Reclaim your voice

in French and in life

Learn to speak French without shutting down,

and rebuild self-trust along the way.

Do you feel like:

- you're stressed about learning French because of your bad experience at school?

- you're worried because you haven't been in a class for 20 years?

- you're afraid to make mistakes and feel like you have to be perfect?

- you have many thoughts or beliefs limiting your potential ("not good enough", "I can't do this", etc.)?

- being wrong or failing feels so uncomfortable that you avoid speaking, or even starting at all?

- you feel stuck in French and maybe in other areas of your life?

When it comes to learning French,

you have tried:

- Duolingo or another similar app

- YouTube videos

- nothing for the past 20 years or since school

- Google translate

- group classes with 12 students or more

- travelling to France

but it hasn't really worked for you...

You're still stuck, not confident, can't communicate in French?

You're looking for a new way to learn French that would fit your learning profile, your needs and your life?

You need something more than all this

First, learning a language is a human experience, so when the human part is missing, progress often feels frustrating or incomplete. Apps and automatic courses can be useful tools, but they rarely provide personalized feedback or emotional support. Without it, motivation often drops and progress slows down.

Second, even though there's a common process in learning, each learner is different. You have your very own learning profile; teaching the same thing, the same way to different learners is the first mistake of the school system.

Speaking of which, for many of us the traditional school system shaped our relationship to learning in ways that were not always supportive:

- with grades, we end up believing that mistake is failure, and that success means no mistake; that pressure can lead to anxiety at school and smetimes burnout later in life

- many of us have also experienced bullying at school; that leaves serious scars...

- with classes of 25, 35 (or more) students, there is no room for individual attention

- students are seen as empty boxes that teachers should fill up and if your way of learning didn't fit the "norm", you may have felt like you were the problem

Your family story can make it better or worse. Same for your work life.

All this has lead you to believe what you believe now. It's probably why you feel like you can't do it, you're not good enough or that you need to be perfect in order to speak French (or succeed / be worthy / be loved, fill in the blank...).

If these patterns are not addressed, they can continue influencing how you approach French, and more often than not, other areas of your life as well.

What happens when fear disappears

  • Joanne:

Sarah gave me back my confidence to relearn the French I used to speak & more!!
Her belief & passion to help YOU learn to speak French has no boundaries!!
Sarah thank you for your endless patience.
    I am loving my results!

  • Nora:

Learning to speak French is a challenge but learning with Sarah, will have you speaking French in a few lessons and you’ll definitely have fun.
Sarah is one of the best instructors that I have ever had and after each lesson my confidence and ability to speak French increased consistently.
She coached me with pronunciation so that I could give a speech in French and in France and be understood.
My ability to travel in France has become so much easier after learning to speak French with Sarah and it has completely changed my travel experiences.

Can you imagine...

- walking into a French conversation without that familiar tightness in your chest, because you no longer feel threatened by what you don't know

- speaking and staying present, even when you make a mistake

- hearing your own voice in French, and not immediately judging it

- feeling grounded enough to continue, instead of freezing

And imagine that shift not stopping at French...

- carrying that steadiness into meetings, into relationships, into everyday conversations

--> this isn't about becoming someone else,

it's about remembering what it feels like to trust yourself again

That's why I've created this program

Who am I ?

Sarah Dessert

Bonjour!

Yes, my real name is Dessert, and it suits me well because I do have a sweet tooth!

Born and raised in France, I decided to start a new life in Canada.

I love teaching French probably as much as I love to speak English! I got my French teaching degree in France and have been a French instructor for more than 14 years now, both in France and Canada.

I've supported thousands of students at different levels, from rebuilding foundations to refining advanced communication.

With my experience here, I’ve become a specialist of teaching French to English speakers. Teaching adults in Alberta for years has allowed me to know my audience really well: understand their needs, their challenges, as well as their strenghts. Being fluent in English myself, I can communicate and create a bond with my clients to support them even better on their learning journey.

Let's go back for a moment

In my personal and professional experience, I’ve often asked myself:
How do happy children become adults who are afraid to learn?

When I was little, I loved school.
I was curious, joyful, deeply sensitive. I loved raising my hand, participating, feeling engaged. I remember very clearly being excited to prepare everything for the first day of school.

I felt alive in learning.

And then slowly, things changed.

Different schools. Different teachers. Different expectations. I started hearing words that didn’t feel neutral anymore.

“Too distracted.”
“Too slow.”
“Not thorough enough.”

At first, they were just comments. But over time, they became labels.

And when you hear something about yourself often enough — especially as a child — you start wondering if it might be true.

I began shrinking without realizing it. I questioned myself more.

Then came bullying. That just made my school experience worse than ever.

At the same time, my home life became unstable.

The places that were supposed to feel safe started feeling unpredictable (to say the least); and when you don’t feel safe, you adapt.

You become hyper-aware.
You try not to take up too much space.
You try to be agreeable.
You try to avoid doing anything that might attract criticism.

Little by little, my self-trust broke. Not loudly, not in one big moment, but quietly.

Not because I lacked ability — but because something inside me shut down.

By the time I became an adult, the symptoms were everywhere:

Anxiety in new situations

People-pleasing
Fear of feedback
Overthinking simple conversations
Disconnection from self
Feeling competent and suddenly small when it came to learning or training

And much more.

On the outside, I was functioning. On the inside, I didn’t feel at peace; emotions were either pushed down or taking over.

It took me years to understand that these patterns were not proof that I was broken or bad. They were responses to experiences.

What had cracked was my sense of safety. And rebuilding that was not about becoming fearless, it was about reconnecting and learning how to stay.

Stay present.
Stay grounded.
Stay with myself, even when I felt uncomfortable.

It meant learning to regulate my nervous system instead of fighting it.
Questioning the voices in my head instead of obeying them.
Separating who I was from what had happened to me.

The rebuilding was slow. It was deliberate. It was layered.

There were days I felt stronger — and days I felt like I was starting over.

But something shifted: I stopped abandoning myself. I reconnected with a sense of steadiness, self-trust, and joy that had always been there underneath.

And when that happened, confidence didn’t come back as performance, it came back as inner peace.

Self-trust didn’t return because I became perfect, it returned because I learned how to be on my own side.

That journey is the foundation of everything I teach: from lived experience, from knowing what it feels like to lose your voice, and what it takes to rebuild it.

Because when adults struggle in French, it’s rarely about ability. It’s usually about safety.

And when safety begins to return, something beautiful happens: learning opens again.

What I've seen in my classes

Over the years, I’ve met brilliant, capable adults who believed they were “bad at French”.

Not because they lacked intelligence, but because they were afraid.

Afraid of making mistakes.
Afraid of sounding foolish.
Afraid of being judged.
Afraid of reliving school experiences they never fully processed.

I’ve seen students apologize before they even speak.
Whisper instead of express.
Freeze mid-sentence.
Laugh nervously after every mistake.

I even had a student walk up to me before the class started and say: "Sarah, I just wanted to let you know that I will not speak in class".

I’ve seen adults who are confident in their careers — leaders, parents, entrepreneurs — become suddenly small the moment French enters the room.

Not because they can’t learn, but because something inside them tightens.

And slowly… they stop trying.

Not consciously, not dramatically, just quietly.

That’s what Learn French and Thrive is designed to transform.

Not just your vocabulary, but your relationship with using your voice.

What changes when you reclaim your voice

You will:

- speak French with growing confidence

- rebuild solid self-trust

- respond to mistakes without shutting down

- communicate with more clarity and presence

- feel more engaged and alive in your daily life

This is not your regular French course...

This is where French learning

meets emotional safety and personal growth.

You don't just learn the langugage,
you learn how to speak without shrinking.

It’s one thing to speak French, and another to work through the inner obstacles that may be holding you back.

You won’t be forced into a rigid method.
Each journey can unfold differently and we adapt so it fits who you are.

How it works:

1. Structured French immersion

2. Weekly coaching for emotional safety & self-trust

3. A safe community to practice and grow

Together, we’ll gently work through the weight that has kept you silent, so speaking begins to feel lighter.

What happens when fear disappears

  • Karine:

Sarah knows how to open hearts, look into your soul and without being agressive. She is an amazing teacher. She IS actually sweet and I learn French with pleasure and confidence. Thanks to Sarah, I really improve my French and I have so much fun that I forgot I was learning... Thank you Sarah, you're the best! :)

I offer an immersion experience

We speak French from the very first class.

Not through translation, but through real communication.

Because confidence tends to grow through practice, not just theory.

Learning a language is not only about grammar, it’s a human experience. And when you feel safe, learning often becomes more natural.

Something important to keep in mind: emotional safety does not mean zero effort or zero discomfort. Growth requires courage, and I guide you through that growth in a way that feels supportive, never shaming.

At Sweet French Learning, we empower each other!

As you work through learning obstacles and fear softens, your French journey can start to feel lighter and more sustainable.

The 12-Week Journey

Each phase builds on the previous one — gently, intentionally, and with depth.

Part 1 – Reclaim (Weeks 1–4)

We begin by slowing down.

Before pushing for performance, we look at what has shaped your relationship with French — and with yourself.

In coaching, you explore:

  • The mindset you’ve been operating from

  • The limiting thoughts that quietly run the show

  • The patterns of self-criticism and self-sabotage

  • The emotional responses that show up when you speak

This isn’t about blaming yourself.
It’s about understanding yourself.

At the same time, in your French sessions, you begin speaking from Day 1 in a structured and supportive way.

You are guided step by step.
You are not rushed.
You are not judged.

This phase is about building safetyin your body, in your voice, and in the classroom.

Women begin to notice the shift: “Maybe I’m not bad at this. Maybe I’ve just been afraid.”

Part 2 – Rise (Weeks 5–8)

Once safety is established, we go deeper.

In coaching, you revisit your relationship to mistakes and regrets.
You explore your school story.
You may reconnect with parts of yourself that learned to stay small.

You begin learning how to receive — support, encouragement, progress, and more — without dismissing it.

Self-compassion becomes a practice, not just a concept.

In French, your communication begins to expand.
You start speaking more consistently.
You practice staying present when mistakes happen.
You learn tools to regulate your nervous system instead of shutting down.

Instead of freezing automatically, you begin noticing you can continue.

Instead of criticizing yourself immediately, you learn to pause and breathe.

You begin practicing staying with yourself in the moment — even when it feels uncomfortable.

Part 3 – Thrive (Weeks 9–12)

The final phase is integration.

You continue strengthening the foundation of self-love that has been quietly forming.

You develop a realistic self-care rhythm.
You acknowledge wins — even the small ones.
You practice compassion instead of judgment.
You begin noticing where boundaries may need to exist in your life.

In French, women notice more steadiness and ease when they speak.
Not because everything is perfect — but because you no longer collapse when it isn’t.

This phase is not about pushing harder.
It’s about stabilizing what you’ve built.

You may finish the journey with a quiet shift:

A softer inner voice.
A growing sense of self-trust.
A more grounded presence.

By the end of the 12 weeks, women begin to notice real evidence of their growth — in their voice, in their posture, and in the way they speak to themselves.

And that foundation often creates a ripple effect beyond French.

This is for you if:

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long is the program? The program runs for 12 weeks. 1 French session + 1 coaching session per week.

  • Will I have all the French lessons first? No, each week you will have 1 French lesson and 1 coaching session. We move at your pace on both levels so the program will be adjusted along the way.

  • How long are the sessions? Each session is 90 minutes for a private client and 2 hours for a group. That means you will need at least 3 or 4 hours per week to complete the program.

  • I work full-time, can I still do the program? Yes: as mentioned in the bonuses, I offer a flexible schedule for busy people. I do morning or evening sessions and Saturdays, so you can have a spot to book your sessions. Please know that it's on a first-come-first-served basis, so if you have a specific day and time you'd like, make sure you book it with me right away.

  • How much time does it require per week? With 2 sessions of 90 minutes or 2 hours, you'll need to book 3 or 4 hours in your week for our sessions. After that, you'll need some time to review things and do the assignment. This time is up to you: how much you can do, how much energy you have, and it can be very flexible. Think about it as time for yourself, just like you would set a time to meet a friend or have a date with your loved one. We can talk about it during our Meet and Greet.

  • Do you have payment plans? Yes, there are several options available for you; we'll explore that during the Meet and Greet.

  • What happens if I click on the button? When you click on the buttons, my scheduling page will appear. There, you can follow the steps to book the best time for you to have a video call with me. During this call, we'll get to know each other, chat about your goals, see if we're a good fit, assess your level in French, talk about your questions or concerns and then discuss the payment options if it's a YES on both sides.

  • How many spots do you have? Right now, I have limited spots available for private clients and a small number of group places per cohort. Because this program is intentionally intimate, spots are not automatically reserved when you book a Meet & Greet.

If we both feel it’s a strong match after our call, your place is confirmed once payment is completed.

  • Do you do group sessions? Yes, we have 2 group sessions per year; ask me during the Meet and Greet to know the date of the next one.

  • Do I have to know French to do the program? Absolutely not; this program is also for full beginners (no knowledge of French). We can talk about it during our Meet and Greet.

  • What are the conditions? I offer a Meet & Greet (video call) before enrollment to ensure we are a strong match. Enrollment confirms your commitment to the full program. Payment is required for the entire 12-week journey, whether paid in full or through an agreed payment plan. Payments are non-refundable. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice (or missed sessions) are charged.
